In 1948, the first Swensen’s ice cream parlor opened at the corner of Union and Hyde in San Francisco. Using only the finest ingredients and exacting techniques, Swensen’s offered the perfect blend of smoothness and taste and created the ultimate ice cream experience. Today, Swensen’s is enjoyed all over the world and is still known as everyone’s favorite old fashioned ice cream parlor.
In 1986, the Minor Food Group took the franchise for Swensen’s and developed it into Thailand’s largest premium ice cream brand. Having been responsible for the development and success of Swensen’s in Thailand over the past 23 years, the Minor Food Group has had to respond quickly and appropriately to the ever changing demands of Thai consumers. Under our direction, the Swensen’s brand has evolved from simple scoops to sundaes and today it provides consumers all over Asia with an ice cream experience no other brand can provide.
Having the supported the evolution of the Swensen’s brand over the past two decades, the Minor Food Group acquired the master franchise rights to 33 countries across Middle East and Asia. In 2004, the Minor Food Group launched its expansion of Swensen’s in Asia with local franchise partners in select Asian markets who share our passion for providing consumers with the Swensen’s ice cream experience. Today, the Minor Food Group has 222 company owned and franchised Swensen’s ice cream parlors in Thailand, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
